The STM's universal policy The STM recently adopted a corporate policy regarding universal access. Thus, the STM wishes to further reduce the number of obstacles preventing people with functional limitations from using its public transit network, while continuing to provide first-rate paratransit services.Five métro stations now accessible along the orange line! Both Berri-UQAM and Lionel-Groulx stations are now equipped with elevators, in addition to Montmorency, De la Concorde and Cartier stations, to provide greater access to all clients and, particularly, to persons using a wheelchair. This brings then number of accessible stations along the orange line to 5.![]() Berri-UQAM Station The entrance to Berri-UQAM station from Saint-Denis Street will be open in early 2010. However, it is still possible to enter the station from these buildings:
Station Lionel-Groulx Station At street level, the station is accessible from the entrance in the building at 620 Atwater Avenue. The STM invites you to pay attention during your trip and to always remain on the métro’s orange line.Instructions for peace of mind using public transit Using transit with the help of an aide or escort Why? There is a gap between the edge of the station platform and the train floor, and with most wheelchair models, this gap is difficult to manage. Wheelchair users can therefore request assistance from an escort or aide. Once the new metro cars are in service, wheelchair users will no longer need an aide to enter or exit the train.
